Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Bahrain Grand Prix 2024 performance has a lot to do with his future in Formula 1 in 2025 when he exits the team for Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz will leave Ferrari at the end of the season. Hamilton who is currently racing for Mercedes will join Ferrari for the 2025 season.
The Italian team could be his last in his F1 career as he approaches his 40s.
Carlos Sainz Bahrain Grand Prix 2024 Performance
Carlos Sainz is the only F1 driver who came close to matching Red Bull’s performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2024. He finished on the podium crossing the finish line in third place.
The Ferrari driver started the race fifth but lost a spot at the beginning and showed excellent race performance on the Soft tyre. However, he maintained his momentum through the two sets of Hard tyres he raced in after that.
Sainz moved up to fourth place by passing his teammate Charles Leclerc before the first pit stop on Lap 11. The Spaniard caught up to Leclerc once more on the 17th lap, after the latter’s first pit stop.
He overtook George Russell of Mercedes to claim the final podium spot. The last detail of the day was being voted as the Driver of the Day at the Bahrain GP Awards courtesy of the global Formula 1 fanbase.

What Does Carlos Sainz F1 Career Look Like?
Sainz’s performance in Bahrain carries a lot of strategies all geared towards furthering his F1 career. Expect a significantly better season-long performance from him in 2024, as he is also holding auditions for companies like Mercedes in 2025.
He could be the man who will take Hamilton’s place at the Silver Arrows next season. While the W15 still isn’t the fastest car on the grid, Sainz still has hope that he will join the team and be a part of its reinvention.
Mercedes enjoyed a great deal of success from 2014 to 2021 but it is no longer the fastest car in Formula One.
Ferrari is without a doubt the second-fastest car starting from the grid, but it still trails well behind Red Bull. The RB series car remains the fastest vehicle in race pace for the last three years.
Why Will Lewis Hamilton Leave Mercedes?
Based on the results of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Mercedes and McLaren are about equal in terms of race pace. Furthermore, Mercedes is still far behind Red Bull or Ferrari in terms of producing a consistently competitive car.
It is now obvious that Hamilton made the right choice in choosing to join Ferrari in 2025. Although the season has only just begun and things could change quickly with the development of cars, the budget cap makes this unlikely for Mercedes to catch up with Red Bull.

His sole reason for switching to Ferrari is his unwavering belief that he will make history once more—as he did with Mercedes from 2014 to 2020.
Hamilton in a lengthy Instagram post said that racing for Ferrari was always his passion as a child. However, his time as a Mercedes driver held him back from achieving his dream.
Mercedes gave him fast and powerful cars for nine years, and the team produced top-notch racing. While it is true that he won seven Formula One titles with the Silver Arrows, in 2022 and 2023 the car did not live up to his expectations.
He said joining the Italian side is a big step towards achieving his lifelong dream of racing for Ferrari. Admittedly, this was not an easy decision for him, and he still owes Mercedes a lot for having him over the previous 10 years.
“Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13 years old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make,” he said.
