Led by manager Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen players have been outstanding since the start of 2023-24 campaign. The Black and Reds are so far the only unbeaten side in Europe and are on course to winning their maiden Bundesliga title.
Even though Xabi Alonso has done a great job at the club and everyone is giving credit to him, we can agree that his mission has been successful so far because of the players who have showcased individual brilliance game after game. In this article we are going to take a look at some of the Bayer Leverkusen players who could be on the move this summer to Europe’s top clubs because of their amazing performance this season.
1. Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz has emerged as one of best young players in the world right now at Bayer Leverkusen under the guidance of Xabi Alonso. Apart from scoring crucial goals and recording assists for his teammates, Wirtz has dazzled fans with his creativity, sharp feet and amazing dribbling.
At the moment, there is no guarantee that Wirtz will be on the move this summer; however, he has been linked to top clubs such as Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool. Football journalist Fabrizio Romano earlier reported that there are currently no negotiations between Wirtz and any other club and he could opt to stay at Leverkusen for another season.
2. Jeremie Frimpong
Next on Bayer Leverkusen players to watch this summer is Dutch right wing-back Jeremie Frimpong. The 23-year-old has been outstanding this campaign and had contributed 22 goals, 11 goals and 11 assists, for Xabi Alonso’s side before the international break. With such amazing stats, we can all agree that few playing the same position as Frimpong are as good as him.
Sources are reporting that the youngster could be on the move at the end of this season and has already attracted interests from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester United. It is rumoured that Frimpong’s release clause is just £34 million, which wouldn’t be difficult for a big team to pay.
3. Jonathan Tah
After producing several outstanding performances under Xabi Alonso this season, Jonathan Tah continued to shine at international level during the break and made headlines after shackling Kylian Mbappe during Germany’s victory over France.

Tah, who is naturally a centre-back, has started 23 games at Bayer Leverkusen this campaign and has played a significant role in the club’s race to clinching their first-ever Bundesliga title. The 28-year-old has so far been strongly linked to West Ham with several sources reporting that he is one player David Moyes is working hard to sign.
West Ham have conceded many goals this campaign and the arrival of Tah could help them start next season when sure their defence won’t be leaking. The German’s contract expires next year and Leverkusen won’t hesitate to cash in on him if he won’t agree to sign a new deal this summer.
West Ham fans will have the opportunity to see how good their club’s target is in the Europa League quarter-finals when they face Bayer Leverkusen.
4. Victor Boniface
Victor Boniface is one of the Bayer Leverkusen players who have played a significant role in the club’s impressive form this season. As a result, it is reported that the German side are not willing to let him go when the summer transfer window opens. However, sources are suggesting that if an offer of around €55 million comes then the Nigerian will be sold.
Boniface has been linked to Arsenal and Chelsea, which means we could see him in the English Premier League next season. The 23-year-old, who plays as a striker, has scored sixteen goals and assisted eight this campaign alone.

5. Alex Grimaldo
As Jeremie Frimpong sorts things on the right side of defence, Alex Grimaldo has been pulling the strings on the left side. The Spanish full-back is undoubtedly one of the best players on his position right now. Grimaldo is 28 years old and his experience has been crucial in Leverkusen’s dazzling form this season.
He has contributed to 26 goals in 37 appearances and could be on the move this summer considering his form. He earlier said that he would like to return to his former club FC Barcelona, as per Goal.
