Jarrod Bowen grabbed his first-ever senior hat-trick on Monday night during the West Ham vs Brentford Premier League fixture.

Bowen scored two quick goals inside seven minutes and then completed his hat-trick shortly after the hour mark as West Ham secured a 4-2 victory over Brentford.

The win will ease pressure on West Ham boss David Moyes who had been coming under pressure from supporters after a poor run of results. Prior to Monday’s game, the Hammers had not won any match in the Premier League this year, with their last fixture at London Stadium ending in a 6-0 loss against Arsenal that saw hundreds of fans leave at half-time.

But West Ham responded in style with a massive victory against Brentford, a team they had never beaten before in the Premier League. Prior to Monday’s fixture, the two sides had faced each other five times in the Premier League, with Brentford winning all the matches. The Bees are the only team of the 43 Moyes had faced in the top flight that he had not previously beaten.

West Ham move to eighth in the standings while Brentford, who are struggling to survive relegation this summer, remain 16th. Just like West Ham, Brentford’s recent form have been poor, with the Bees winning just two of the last eleven matches prior to yesterday’s match.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank said after the West Ham vs Brentford game that he is irritated by the inconsistent performance of his team.

“I’m irritated by the inconsistency of performances. I know it’s there. I’m convinced we’ll find it quick again. People have different strategies when they speak about the games and the referees. We didn’t get to our level today. We played against a West Ham team that played well.”

A red-hot start from West Ham led to a goal inside five minutes when talisman Jarrod Bowen’s thunderous strike from inside the box went into the back of the net. Looking to bounce back after the 6-0 humiliation by Arsenal, West Ham added a second goal barely two minutes after finding the opener. Once again, it was Bowen who converted a cutback from Vladimir Coufal.

With such a fierce start, it looked as though West Ham were going to run riot at London Stadium. However, sloppiness at the back cost them a goal in the 13th minute as Neal Maupay opened his account of the night with a brilliant strike.

The goal by Thomas Frank’s side left the hosts looking a bit uncomfortable but they managed to hold on to the narrow lead up to the hour mark.

Brentford’s hope of finding an equalizer was extinguished by Bowen who completed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute after being fed by Mohammed Kudus. Six minutes later, the Hammers extended their lead to 4-1, thanks to Emerson Palmieri’s brilliant strike.

With time running out, it was clear that West Ham were on course to their first league win in 2024. Substitute Yoane Wissa did curl in a fantastic strike from the edge of the box but it was only a consolation.

West Ham boss David Moyes was impressed by the performance of Bowen during the match.

“I’m really pleased for Jarrod…The goals will obviously be the noticeable thing, but his all-round play and the way he’s working… he had three or four other runs in the game where he was a threat. I think the goals will hopefully get him back in Gareth’s thinking, but I’ve not seen him out of Gareth’s thinking because he was in and around the last squad.” David Moyes said after the West Ham vs Brentford match, as per Sky Sports.
