Pep Guardiola says he has a strong feeling of Vincent Kompany as Manchester City manager.
Kompany played at Etihad for 11 seasons, eight of which he captained the team. He was then immortalised by a statue set up at the Etihad Stadium in 2021.
However the 37-year-old Belgian international left for Burnley and he was in Manchester on Wednesday night when City thrashed his team 3-1.
Julian Alvarez who turned 24 on Wednesday scored twice for City and Rodri added a third goal. Burnley scored a late consolation goal through Ameen Al-Dakhil.
After the match, Guardiola told BBC Sport that Burnley played well and he could see Kompany’s footprints in the entire game.

He admits that Burnley is a strong challenger that doesn’t give up easily adding that City’s win on Wednesday was because of the quality of City players.
“Burnley is not an easy team to face, they never give up. Today, we won because of the quality of players we have, not because we controlled everything or were better at all aspects,” stated Guardiola.
He acknowledged that Burnley did not expect to lose but, either way, it is indicative that Kompany will one day take charge at Etihad.
“Vinny sooner or later will finish here. I have the feeling that he will finish here. He is already a big manager, what he did last season with Burnley,” Guardiola said.
Guardiola was impressed by Burnley’s strong defence and their dynamism while playing.
