BNP Paribas Open introduces Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village

• Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Caroline Wozniacki will play this year
• It is one of the nine most prestigious events in the ATP Tour and WTA calendars after the four major slams
• The two-week event hosts the best tennis talents

BNP Paribas Open 2024 will have a new face with the addition of Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village.

The BNP Paribas Open, also called Indian Wells is a prestigious Masters 1000 event held in Indian Wells, California.

It is one of the nine most prestigious events in the ATP Tour and WTA calendars after the four major slams usually held in March every year.

The two-week event hosts the best tennis talents and lives up to its reputation as the Grand Slam of the West. Its prize money is huge for an event of its standing; $17,600,000, divided equally between the ATP and WTA tours ($8,800,000 each).

Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek who won the 2023 Indian Wells tournament respectively got $1,262,220 each. Runners-up received $662,360 each.

Who Will Feature Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village?

The Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village has new offerings showcasing the first significant modifications to the tournament’s experience since stadium renovations were finished before the 2017 event.

Modern California café and bar Porta Via in the Stadium 1 location that overlooks Centre Court steers this new addition into the event.

The tournament, in association with its newest hospitality partner, Sodexo Live!, will include a culinary lineup. It will combine regional restaurants with creative ideas to produce what it calls “a holistic hospitality experience” that pays particular homage to Southern California food.

Japanese-inspired hot dogs from Sumo Dog of Jeffrey Lunak and the Morimoto Restaurant Group will also be available to the fans.

Award-winning Mexican artisan cuisine Puesto from San Diego, the neighbourhood delicatessen J’s Deli in Palm Desert, and fast-casual burgers are among the new offerings at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village.

Other culinary delights will be from fast-food pop-up restaurant John Cleveland, a chef based in Los Angeles and California comfort food at Post & Beam. Le Burger by Camphor in Los Angeles will also be present serving Michelin-starred burgers and fries.

This year, MOTO Pizza will debut in Indian Wells. The Seattle-based chain is known for its award-winning cuisine, which combines the flavours of Detroit, New York, and Rome with Filipino flair to create a unique pizza experience.

Angeles chef Christian Page will establish Love Love Lionel’s and Love Love Chicken for spectators in Stadium 2. He will serve burgers and chicken following the introduction of the Lionel’s Fountain burger concept in 2023.

Fan Expectations at Indian Wells Tennis Garden Food Village

BNP Paribas Open chief marketing officer Philippe Dore said that the tournament fans will appreciate the new culinary lineup.

“Our fans are going to love the lineup of dining options at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden this year,” he said. “Every year, we try to enhance the overall experience at the BNP Paribas Open, and we believe that this variety of new concessions and returning favorites will continue to elevate food and beverage as a standout aspect of ‘Tennis Paradise.”

Together with these new restaurants, Stadium 2 will also have an impressive array of full-service establishments, led by the globally recognized Nobu.

Nobu will continue to wow customers with its distinctive Japanese fusion cuisine, as well as longtime favourites in the desert, Fresh Agave Mexican Bar & Grill and Ristorante Mamma Gina.

New hospitality package choices, including those from chef, restaurateur, and Bravo’s Top Chef All-Stars first champion Richard Blais, are available for those holding suite tickets.

He is well-known for his chateaubriand beef filet, white truffle mac & cheese, and tostadas with tuna “poke.”

The 2024 BNP Paribas Open is scheduled for March 3–17. Top-ranked Novak Djokovic will play at Indian Wells after five years. He missed the last three seasons of the tournament due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and his refusal to be vaccinated.

Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Caroline Wozniacki, will play at the tournament after missing in action in 2023.
