For many years, golf has been among the most luxurious sports in the world. Considering the huge prize money players receive in golf and the endorsement deals they have, it’s not surprising that there are golfers who own private jets.

Top golfers like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson earn more than NBA, NFL and football stars, hence being able to afford some of the most expensive things. When they aren’t sinking birdies, you’ll find them flying around in some fantastic private jets.

Here are 9 golfers who own private jets:

Arguably the most famous golfer of  all time, Tiger Woods has made a fortune playing golf over the years. The 82-time PGA Tour champion has many expensive things in his possession, including a a Gulfstream 550 that costs $53 million. Considering his $1.1 billion net worth, we can all agree that he deserves to own such an expensive jet which enables him to carry up to 19 passengers to a distance of about 8000 miles.

2. Phil Mickelson 

Another name synonymous with golf, Phil Mickelson has also been a player for decades. He has made a fortune through the sport and considering his massive $300 net worth, it’s not surprising that he is one of the golfers who own private jets. The 53-year-old has a Gulfstream V private jet that is reportedly worth $40 million. Mickelson’s jet can carry up to 18 passengers and has a range of 7500 miles.

3. Jack Nicklaus 

Nicknamed “The Golden Bear”, Jack Nicklaus is another golfer prominent golfer who has also made millions and currently owns a private jet. Nicklaus is also a lover of Gulfstreams just like Woods and Mickelson and has the Gulfstream III in his possession.

According to Sportskeeda, Nicklaus also owns has Lears, Cessnas, Sabreliners, JetStars and other Gulfstreams, and also knows how to fly them.

4. Ernie Els 

Ernie Els, another extremely wealthy golfer, owns Gulfstream IV. At one point, he wrestled with veteran pro Steve Marino in his private jet before the two men shook hands. While the story initially spread as a rumour, he did confirm it in June 2018 on the No Laying Up podcast.

5. Rickie Fowler 

Known for his dynamic presence on the PGA Tour, Rickie Fowler has been able to make millions playing golf. As a result, he has been able to afford Gulfstream V which he uses to fly around.

6. Rory McIlroy 

The man who stepped up in the absence of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy is one of the most talented golfers in the world right now. He has won several PGA Tour tournaments and has been endorsed by various brands over the years.

Due to his talent, he can afford anything he wants, including a Bombardier Challenger 605 which he owns. The jet costs $30 million and the Irishman uses it to fly anywhere he wants to and arrive in style.

7. Sergio Garcia 

Another star on our list of golfers who own private jets, Sergio Garcia possesses the Hawker 4000, which costs $23 million. While it’s not a fantastic plane like the Gulfstreams, the Hawker 4000 is still an impressive plane and Garcia is a proud owner.

8. Greg Norman 

Although Greg “The Shark” Norman is now retired, golf fans can’t forget just how good he was during his playing days. He made millions playing on various tours and has been able to afford private jets. His first private plane was a Lockheed JetStar costing $3 million and as of now, he owns seven of them, including a Gulfstream V and a G550.

9. Arnold Palmer 

Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in golf history, Arnold Palmer is a name that often pops up when talking about golf. Depending on which generation you grew up in, you must have heard the name Arnold Palmer.

The American is one of the players who made golf stand out and made a fortune in the process. At the time of his death in 2016, he had a net worth of over $800 million and owned multiple private jets, including a Citation X which costs $23 million.
