Dan Henderson was initially a wrestler who become a Greco-Roman wrestling national champion three times. He began training in mixed martial arts after competing at the Pan American Championships and being a dominant force at the Arizona State University.
In 1997, the American fighter competed at the Brazil Open and emerged victorious. His triumph opened ways for his UFC career and he made his debut the following year at UFC 17 to claim the middleweight tournament. From 2000 to 2007, he competed at Pride where he defeated the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort and Antonio Rodrigo.
Henderson was the last Welterweight and Middleweight Champion of Pride. Upon his return to UFC, he lost his first two matches which were for championships. He first lost to Quinton ‘Rampage” Jackson at UFC 75 and then Anderson Silva at UFC 78.
