Can Novak Djokovic win Australian Open 2024 again?
This is a question a dozen tennis fans are asking themselves after sailing to the quarter-finals of the tournament in Melbourne.
He made it to the other phase of the Grand Slam event after beating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in three straight sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-3 on Sunday.
Knowing Mannarino’s game, Djokovic admitted that this is the best match he has played since he entered the Australian Open to defend his title.
He did not struggle as much as he did in the first and second rounds of the event and this is good for him as he enters a crucial stage of the tournament.
“Today was the best day in terms of tennis, the way I felt on the court. I’m really excited to enter the second week,” he admitted after the game.
Mannarino, 35, was in good form despite losing to Djokovic in three sets. He made a show in his first three rounds of the Australian Open.
He fired powerful groundstrokes that confused his opponents and capitalized on this to win the three matches. However, Djokovic knew his tactics and came ready to tackle him.

Can Novak Djokovic Win Australian Open 2024?
Djokovic is optimistic he will win the Australian Open 2024. The Serbian will play in his 58th Grand Slam quarter-final, which is a record held by Roger Federer.
After reaching 14 quarterfinals in Australia, he is currently tied for second place in this tournament with John Newcombe and Rafael Nadal. His outstanding run of victories at the Australian Open now stands at 32 games.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner will face off with Taylor Fritz on Tuesday and book a spot in the semi-finals.
Speaking at the Rod Laver Arena after the quarterfinal qualifying round, Djokovic said he considers himself his biggest threat above any other opponent.
“The biggest threat? Myself always first, and then of course all the other best players in the world,” he said.
He added, “Any player is here with, I’m sure, intention to achieve the dream of winning a Grand Slam. Some players are obviously more expected to go further than some others.”
Does Novak Djokovic Have an Advantage Playing With Taylor Fritz?
Remarkably, this is the first time in 15 years that the Serb has played a match this far into the day session of the Australian Open, against Fritz in the quarterfinal.
Djokovic has played and won most of his final matches in Melbourne at night. He says the conditions are always right when playing at night.
Day matches require a studious player and are very adaptive because the sweltering heat takes a toll on most players.
It is not a new phenomenon for Djokovic who has been at Rod Laver Arena for over a decade making history.

Djokovic believes that winning in Melbourne 10 titles made him more confident and he uses this against his opponents.
“I love the conditions here, particularly in the night sessions. And I guess the more you win on the court, the more confident you feel every next time you step on the court.
“This is one of the most important stadiums in the world, so this court, this stadium, this crowd, always gets the best out of me,” he stated after winning the 2023 Australian Open.
Does Playing During the Day Matter for Novak Djokovic?
Djokovic doesn’t think playing during the days matters so much to him because all winning factors remain constant.
Caroline Whittaker of the Tennis Podcast questioned during the 2023 competition if the time of play mattered to him as much.
He responded by saying that it does not matter as much. A section of tennis players prefer playing during the day because it gives them normal bedtime hours.
