Passionate about football from a young age, Rodrigo Bentancur joined Boca Junior youth academy in 2009. He went through the club’s youth set-up until 2015 when he was promoted to the senior team.

On 12 April 2015, Bentancur made his debut for Boca Juniors as a substitute in a 0-0 draw against Nueva Chicago. During a match against San Lorenzo, he made a significant error by passing the ball to a rival forward who scored a last-minute winning goal. The goal put San Lorenzo on top of Boca Juniors at the standings, but Boca eventually regained the number one position and won the league title.

During his time with Boca Juniors, Rodrigo Bentancur won two Argentine league titles and Copa Argentine. On 21 April 2017, Serie A giants Juventus completed the acquisition of Bentancur from Boca. He formally became a Juventus player during the summer of 2017 and made his debut on 26 August coming on as a substitute in a 4-2 away win over Genoa.
