Matt Hardy, along with his brother Jeff, and some of their friends started their own wrestling federation called Trampoline Wrestling Federation when he was 18. In 1994, he began wrestling for various promotions and won his first championship at the New England Wrestling Alliance. Matt followed this with another triumph at the New Frontier Wrestling Association the following year.
