From winning world championships to Olympic gold medals, the greatest Ukrainian boxers have done it all in the ring. Ukraine has a long history of producing top-level boxers and this can be proven by the fact that it is home to some of the best boxers of all time.

5. Vasiliy Lomachenko

Vasiliy Anatolyevich Lomachenko, also spelled Vasyl Anatoliyovych Lomachenko, is a professional boxer from Ukraine. Having held multiple world championships in three different weight classes, Lomachenko is widely regarded as one of the best boxers in the world.

At featherweight, he held the WBO title from 2014 to 2015. He then moved up to super featherweight where he held the WBA, WBO and lineal titles from 2016 to 2018. The boxing world saw the best best of Lomachenko in lightweight where he unified the WBO, WBA and Ring magazine titles in 2018. That same year, he also won the lineal title, making him the only boxer to ever hold all three major world titles as well as the lineal title in a single weight class..

Vasiliy Lomachenko’s impressive performance over the years has earned him a spot in the boxing Hall of Fame and is one of the greatest Ukrainian boxers of all time.

4. Vyacheslav Senchenko

Vyacheslav Senchenko is a former boxer who competed as a pro from 2002 to 2015. He boasts a professional boxing record of 37 wins and two losses, with his only defeats coming against Kell Brook and Paulie Malignaggi. Senchenko reached the pinnacle of the sport by winning the WBA welterweight title in 2009. He defended the title for three years, which proves the sheer dominance he had in the welterweight division. 

Senchenko ended his career in 2015 after making a name for himself in the boxing world. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest Ukrainian boxers of all time.

3. Oleksandr Usyk 

Well, you can’t talk about the greatest Ukrainian boxers of all time and fail to mention Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk. The 36-year-old has held multiple world championships in two weight classes since 2021 and is the current unified heavyweight champion.

As of August 2022, the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB), BoxRec and ESPN rank Oleksandr Usyk as the best heavyweight in the world. The Ring ranks him as the world’s best active boxer, pound for pound. Usyk’s success is a testament to his talent, hard work and dedication. He is an inspiration to many young boxers, not only in Ukraine but the whole world.

2. Wladimir Klitschko 

A strategic and intelligent boxer, Wladimir Klitschko is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. Wladimir had a pro career spanning over two decades, holding the world heavyweight championship twice, including the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and Ring magazine titles.

Wladimir was known for his strong knockout power and his matches could draw a global broadcast viewership of more than 400 million people throughout his time as world heavyweight champion. He boasts a bro boxing record of 64 wins and five losses. His last two fights ended in defeats against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Wladimir Klitschko is the brother of fellow professional boxer Vitali Klitschko, who himself held multiple world titles and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ukrainian boxers of all time.

1. Vitali Klitschko

There are several websites ranking Vitali Klitschko as the best talent Ukraine has produced in boxing. Well, it’s not surprising considering his achievements in the ring. During his professional boxing days, Vitali won 45 out of his 47 fights and won multiple world heavyweight championships. He never lost via knockout and his 87% knockout percentage is regarded as one of the best knockout-to-fight ratios of any champion in heavyweight boxing history.

Vitali Klitschko is currently a politician and serves as the mayor of Kyiv and head of the Kyiv City State Administration, having held both offices since June 2014.
