He said the quartet will dominate the ATP Tour in 2024. Becker, a former world No.1 described Sinner as a superstar who is a likeable athlete.

“With Jannik Sinner you can clearly see that he has improved in the last one or two years. He was always dangerous, but he has now a certain consistency and a relaxed attitude on the court, which allows him to stay true to his line and play tennis even in critical phases,” Becker stated.

“[This is] the basis for the next big step. It has to be to get to the semi-finals or finals of a Grand Slam tournament and maybe even win it.

Sinner, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the world, is at a career high and has improved significantly this year. He concluded the 2023 season with a stellar 64-15 (81%) record.

The 22-year-old finished second in Rotterdam, Miami, and the ATP Finals in Turin, and he won titles in Montpellier, Toronto, Beijing, and Vienna.

In addition, the Italian advanced to his first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon and concluded his career by captaining Italy to their first Davis Cup victory since 1976.

Becker attributes his success to being well-mannered, courteous, and a reserved youngster. In addition to being a superstar, the German coach loves Sinner’s calmness and his demeanour on-court and off-court.

Carlos Alcaraz

Alcaraz, ranked second in the world, had an even better season, taking home six championships. This includes his second Grand Slam triumph following his 2023 Wimbledon victory over Novak Djokovic.

After winning the US Open in 2022, the 20-year-old Spaniard became the youngest ATP player to be ranked number one in the world.

Ben Shelton

Shelton reached the Australian Open quarterfinals and the US Open semifinals during his stellar first full year as a professional, ending at No. 17 in the ATP Rankings. In October, the 21-year-old American won his first-ever ATP tournament in Tokyo.

Holger Rune

Becker broke the news during a podcast show on Eurosport Germany. He termed it a big honour to coach Rune, who is a formidable player of the new tennis era on the ATP Tour.

The 55-year-old coach said Rune has had his contact for a long time, and he was waiting patiently for the day he would ask him for his coaching services which he did.

“I can confirm that I am Holger Rune’s coach. It makes me a little proud that he asked me. The contact has existed for a long time. Now it was a very good fit,” he stated.

Becker explained that his calendar allowed it and that he always had a coaching interest in Ruger because he exhibits a lot of commitment to tennis.

It was Rune, 20, who invited him to a training week in Monte-Carlo, and Becker got a chance to chat with Rune’s mother Aneke and Lapo Becherini, his performance coach.

He candidly told them that Rune’s future and success in tennis was in their hands and that their commitment would go a long way in making him a great player.

Rune was working with Lars Christensen as his coach after a stint with Patrick Mouratoglou for a year.
