Jim Furyk began playing golf as a small boy and continued to play at the University of Arizona. At college, he became an all-American twice.

In 1992, Furyk turned professional and recorded his first victory the following year at the Nike Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic. In 1994, he joined the PGA Tour and would go on to win at least one tournament each year from 1998 to 2003. As a result, he established himself as one of the best players in the world alongside the likes of Tiger Woods.

Furyk’s biggest win that period was 2003 when he tied the record for the lowest 72-hole score in the US Open. He would go on to win his first major championship at the home event.
