The defender then joined English club Watford on a four-year contract. Troost has represented Nigeria at the international level. He was part of the Nigeria squad that won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

He was also part of the Nigeria squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. He represented them in the Netherlands at the Under19 and Under20 but chose to play for Nigeria over the Netherlands.
