The partnership officially kicks off on August 18 through to August 19, during the NBA Weekend which is an interactive basketball and lifestyle event that takes place in North Coast’s Cali Coast Ras El Hekma.
Popular NBA 3X (three-on-three) basketball competitions, live musical performances, and a Jr. NBA clinic for 100 neighbourhood kids will all be part of the event.
In addition, MAVEN Developments and NBA Africa will conduct an elite player development camp in Egypt for 16-year-old players later this year, as well as the Jr. NBA West Cairo League for kids aged 12 to 16.
Mohamed Abdel-Motaleb Soliman, vice president and director of the NBA in Egypt, and Mo Rushdy, co-founder and board member of MAVEN Developments, made the announcement on Tuesday in Cairo.

“We are excited to collaborate with MAVEN Developments as part of our continued commitment to developing the game of basketball at the grassroots level in Egypt. MAVEN shares our commitment to inspiring the next generation of young people to be better leaders and teammates on the court and in their communities,” Soliman noted.
On his part, Rushdy said that his organization is focused on empowering African NBA players by every measure of their dream.
“Every MAVEN project is designed to empower our residents and to help them achieve and exceed their ambitions,” he stated.
MAVEN Development believes that life is made up of moments formed by the places they take place. One of the things they have been keen on is always looking for the worth of the important things, like providing more sporting chances for Egyptian children.
The MAVEN co-founder added that partnering with the NBA is exciting. The partnership expands upon the league’s earlier efforts in Cairo, which included the opening of the NBA Egypt office earlier this year.
