  • Chelsea have finally unveiled their new away kit for the 2023/24 season
  • The kit has been unveiled without a sponsor, just like the home shirt
  • The Blues hope to finalise a deal that has been agreed upon with Infinite Athlete for a sponsorship deal

Chelsea has at last unveiled their fresh away kit for the 2023/24 season, aligning with the home kit in featuring no sponsorship branding. Even though they have already participated in four matches this season, including an away fixture against West Ham United, the London-based club had yet to reveal their new away shirt, despite leaks surfacing online months before its official launch.

This much-anticipated away kit has been introduced, with Chelsea confirming that the design draws inspiration from classic kits of the 1990s. It embraces a colour scheme described as “pitch blue and soar,” composed of a geometric pattern that artfully combines dark and light blue hues.

The golden Chelsea badge and Nike logo add a touch of luxury, a nod to the glamour associated with the King’s Road. Similar to the home jersey, the new away kit has been revealed devoid of any sponsor logos and is available for purchase without any front-of-shirt branding.

Chelsea has already negotiated a sponsorship deal with the technology firm Infinite Athlete, estimated to be valued between £40 million and £50 million annually. However, the final seal of approval from the Premier League remains pending. Reports circulating suggest that Chelsea is optimistic about finalizing the agreement with Infinite Athlete in the upcoming days.

For fans who opt to purchase the new away kit without any sponsor branding, it’s important to note that there will be no option to add such branding later once the agreement is officially announced.

This unveiling marks an intriguing development in the world of football kits, with Chelsea’s decision to release both their home and away kits without sponsor logos. Such a move is relatively uncommon in modern football, where club sponsorship deals are lucrative and often a prominent feature on team jerseys.

Chelsea’s commitment to this minimalist approach could signify a bold shift in the commercial strategies of football clubs, focusing on fan aesthetics and nostalgia rather than sponsor-driven branding. This unique choice may also reflect the club’s anticipation of securing the Infinite Athlete sponsorship deal, which they appear confident will be approved in the near future.

In essence, Chelsea’s new away kit for the 2023/24 season stands out not only for its retro-inspired design but also for its notable absence of a sponsor logo. As the Premier League evaluates the proposed sponsorship agreement with Infinite Athlete, Chelsea fans have the opportunity to embrace this jersey as a symbol of their club’s rich history and its potential future direction in the realm of football aesthetics and branding.
