Sandra Owusu is a Ghanaian-born footballer who plays as a forward for Spartak Subotica and the Ghana national team.
She started playing football at a young age, quickly being identified as a talented player who played for several youth teams in Ghana before moving to Serbia.
As a member of the Ghana national team, she represented her country at the U-17 and U-20 World Cups.
She is still in her early career but so far, she is successful having won the Serbia Super Liga with Spartak Subotica. Anyone who comes across this would want to know more about the player and here is a brief biography about her.

Education
Sandra attended T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi for her secondary school education where she was a member of the school’s football team.
Owusu is a talented young player who is still in her early career and it is possible that she will choose to pursue a degree in sports management or a related field in the future though her focus currently is on her career.
Personal Life
Sandra was born in Kumasi, Ghana on January 29 2000 to Kofi Owusu and Madam Yaa Pokuaa who are both late. May they rest in eternal peace.
When her parents died, she was taken in by Madam Luka Gyamfuah and madam Rosemary Ampem who were there to comfort and accommodate her in her mourning season.
It was not an easy moment as her biological siblings disowned her but thank God she found solace in the two ladies.
When she got an opportunity to travel outside the country, she found a sponsor by the name of Hajia from France who facilitated her travelling documents and fare and took care of her medical expenses while suffering from an injury.
Career
Owusu began her career with fabulous ladies and was also a member of the Airtel Rising Stars, a Colt football talent hunt in Africa with an initiative of discovering and nurturing young talents in football.

Lebanese-based club Zouk Mosbeh signed Owusu to a one-year contract, winning a League, FA Cup and Super Cup as the top scorer of the league. However, an injury kept her away from the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
Two years later, she joined Ghana Women’s Premier League side Supreme Ladies in a bid to revive her career after the injury. She was appointed as the club’s captain and later nominated for the NASCO GWPL Player of the Month.
A year later, Owusu was signed by ZFK Spartak Subotica on a one-year deal.
Internationally, the forward represented Ghana at different age levels and 14 years, she was named to the squad for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
She earned her promotion to the U-20 team, the Black Maidens and they qualified for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Sandra was then called to the senior team due to public demand ahead of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, with Ghana as the host nation. However, due to a previous injury, she was ruled out as she did not recover completely, failing to get to the final squad.
Sandra’s Achievements
- Representing Ghana at the U17 World Cup in 2014 and the U20 World Cup in 2016
- She won the Serbian Super Liga with Spartak Subotica in 2022 by scoring 10 goals in the League.
- She was nominated for the Puskas Award in 2021 for her goal against Kumasi Sports Academy in the Ghana Women’s Premier League.

Just like any other player, Sandra’s greatest dream is to play for European and English clubs like Arsenal.

She would also want to see Ghana play in major tournaments to see the young girls get a place to play in the national team. She has been a mentor to so many young ladies and she nurtures them in the best way possible.
What inspires Sandra in her career?
Her Coaches have seen her development as a player. They have taught her the skills and knowledge she needs to succeed, helping her become the player she is today.
Other female footballers who have played before her and succeeded in the sport also inspire her that she can as well succeed like Asisat Oshoala.
Sandra is an inspiration to other young players and self-driven to succeed and she is strong-willed to see girls thrive in the sport.
