His brother Paul is also a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Nigeria Premier League club Warri Wolves. He also played for Nigeria at the youth level.

His sister Patience is a talented athlete who has represented Nigeria at the national level in athletics. She is a sprinter who competes in the 100 meters and 200 meters races.

Peter is married to his longtime girlfriend Ebhota Bethel and the couple is blessed with three children.

Career

Etebo started his career locally at Warri Wolves spending three seasons and was promoted to the senior team. However, due to his studies, he didn’t make his club debut immediately.

His performance at Warri was excellent and earned him the Glo Wonder Goal award and the Most Promising Talent of the Year award at the CAF Awards in Abuja, Nigeria.

The midfielder joined Feirense, a Portuguese club, helping them gain promotion to the Primeira Liga.

Feirense loaned him out to Las Palmas for six months with a buyout option helping the club miss relegation.

The player then joined Stoke City at a fee of $8 million from Feirense on a five-year contract where he became one of the best performers for the club.

He then joined Getafe on loan with an option to buy him however, he joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan and then to Watford on a season-long loan deal with a buyout option, and then to Aris Thessaloniki on a season-long loan.

Internationally, he helped Nigeria’s U-23 team qualify for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria in the final.

He was also selected for the Nigeria squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2018 World Cup Russia squad.
