Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Atalanta for striker Rasmus Holjund.
Rasmus Hojlund, a striker from Denmark, has agreed to join Manchester United from Serie A club Atalanta. The agreement calls for a five-year term with an extra season’s option. Hojlund is the sixth-most expensive acquisition in United’s history thanks to the deal, which is valued at £72 million ($92.52 million).
Hojlund, who had previously played for FC Copenhagen and Sturm Graz, had a standout season in the Serie A in 2022–23, scoring nine goals for Atalanta. After bringing in goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan and defender Mason Mount from Chelsea during the current transfer window, he will be Manchester United’s third addition.

In the meanwhile, Hojlund’s transfer to United is said to have been made possible by Atalanta’s acquisition of Almeria striker El Bilal Toure. Hojlund’s exclusion from the team for a preseason friendly match against Bournemouth served as more evidence of the impending departure.
With the addition of Hojlund, Manchester United had successfully solved the three major squad deficiencies that the manager had identified: a goalkeeper, a forward, and a dynamic midfielder. The club was able to make these acquisitions while staying below their predetermined spending limit, which was affected by Financial Fair Play rules.
Regarding possible transfers, other teams have expressed interest in players like Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Fred, and Donny van de Beek. United is prepared to search the market for appropriate replacements if any of these players decide to leave the club.
In addition, Manchester United is still very interested in midfielder Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina. After completing the majority of their incoming business, the club may now turn its attention to controlling player exits and, if necessary, pursuing more transfer market options.

According to reports, Manchester United turned down a proposal from West Ham for Harry Maguire.
When Manchester United and Leicester City reached an agreement to pay £80 million in 2019, Maguire became the most expensive defender in the world. However, throughout the last season, under Erik ten Hag, Maguire has drastically lost favor.
The England international appeared to have fallen to fifth-choice center-back last season after only making eight Premier League starts. Luke Shaw was even selected ahead of the then-club captain to fill in as a substitute center-back.
Despite depriving the 30-year-old of the captaincy, Ten Hag claimed that Maguire is still an “important” component of the team and exhorted him to “fight” for his position.
According to reports, David Moyes was interested in the defender and West Ham had offered Manchester United £20 million.
Despite the possibility of playing more first-team games at the London Stadium, the reports claim that there are reservations over Maguire’s readiness to relocate there.
