He spent most of his childhood days in Abia and like any other boy of his age, street football was the major game they played.

At home, he was always playing football even at home and would showcase his talent in the sitting room. It was there that his dream to make a career out of football was birthed.

With his mother’s support, he played for his school’s team featuring in several shell cup and grassroots competitions.

Kenneth has a brother by the name of Lucky, also a footballer and plays for Nigeria’s Rangers Football Club of Enugu. He is happily married to Chioma and they are blessed with a daughter who was born in London, named Chairman.

Career

Born in Nigeria, Ken began playing street football and then a local club before he joined Sunshine Stars and Anderlecht as a trialist before he was signed from the Anderlecht academy by Standard Liege.

From Liege, Ken was signed by Chelsea and was immediately given out on loan to Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag. Two years later, Nigeria World Cup-bound Omeruo agreed on a new contract with Chelsea for a term of three years.

Ado Den Haag assigned him on a one and a half years loan deal making his first goal for the club in a match against FC Groningen.

He was loaned to Middlesbrough until the end of the season making his debut for the club in a draw against Doncaster Rovers. A few months later, he was sent off in the 82nd minute after picking up a second yellow and they managed to finish the game in a victory win against Birmingham City.

He rejoined the club for the next season making his first appearance against Birmingham in a win.

The player joined Kasimpasa on a season-long loan with a buyout option at the end of the spell. He made his debut for the club in a match against Gaziantepspor in a victory. A few days later, he made his home debut against Istanbul Basaksehir F.K which ended in a win.

The season was not all well for the defender as he suffered a couple of injuries. Although the loan deal had a buyout option, the club decided to do away with that due to a lack of funds which called for his return to Chelsea.

Alanyaspor club signed him on a one-year contract extension before leaving on loan again, this time for a long season. After signing a new three-year deal at Chelsea, Omeruo returned to Kasimpasa on a season-long loan, then to Leganes on a permanent deal.

Omeruo played for the Nigerian under-20 team that reached the quarter-finals at the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Colombia. The numerous contracts he acquired paved the way for his net worth.
