Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is contemplating a formation change to accommodate Jude Bellingham in the upcoming season.

Bellingham recently completed his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid, with the Spanish club paying an initial fee of €103m for his services.

Despite being just 19 years old, the English international brings valuable experience and quality to his new team. However, there are concerns about how he will fit into Real Madrid’s midfield, which already boasts a plethora of talented options.

Luka Modric is expected to follow Toni Kroos in signing a contract extension, while Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, both French midfielders, will be vying for more opportunities in the starting lineup. Additionally, Dani Ceballos, a fringe player, recently agreed to a new four-year contract.

Federico Valverde has also split his time between the right wing and central midfield for Real Madrid.

According to reports from AS, Ancelotti is considering a shift from his usual 4-3-3 formation to a 4-3-1-2 setup, which would allow Bellingham to play as a central attacking midfielder.

Bellingham showcased his goal-scoring abilities during his final season at Signal-Iduna Park, finding the back of the net 14 times in all competitions.

Real Madrid is currently making plans to utilize Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo as inverted forwards in the absence of Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti had initially targeted either Kai Havertz or Harry Kane as potential false nine signings, but financial constraints are likely to prevent the club from making another high-profile transfer this summer.

Instead, Real Madrid has acknowledged that their focus will be on securing the signing of Kylian Mbappe in 2024. In the meantime, Ancelotti has devised a tactical reshuffle for the upcoming season to compensate for the absence of a traditional striker.

As a temporary solution, Real Madrid has secured the return of veteran centre forward Joselu on an initial loan from Espanyol. However, he is not expected to be a regular starter for the team.
