Real Madrid have officially completed the signing of Jude Bellingham from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

The La Liga giants will pay a reported fee of 103 million euros for the young midfielder, in addition to several potential add-ons. Bellingham’s transfer deal could reach up to 133.9 million euros if those add-ons are achieved.

The initial fee paid by Real Madrid means Bellingham is the second-most expensive English footballer after Jack Grealish, who broke the British transfer record when he joined Manchester City in 2021. Bellingham is also Real Madrid’s second-most expensive signing after Eden Hazard, who the Los Blancos signed for 115 million euros.

Real Madrid signing Bellingham has made the young midfielder the third-most expensive teenager in the history of the game after Kylian Mbappe and Joao Felix, respectively. Paris Saint-Germain paid 180 million euros to sign Mbappe while it cost Atletico Madrid 126 million euros to sign Felix, who will be returning from his loan period at Chelsea this summer.

Jude Bellingham, who is currently 19 years old, has signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid. According to as, the Los Blancos will be paying the England international 20 million euros per season, which brings his total earnings at Santiago Bernabeu to 120 million euros. Bellingham’s deal could cost Real Madrid in excess of 250 million euros.

Bellingham, who will turn 20 later this month, joins the group of Real Madrid’s highest earners Luka Modric, Kroos, Vinicius Junior, Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba. This follows the departure of Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard, who have been Real Madrid’s highest-paid footballers.

The talented midfielder will be unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Thursday in Real Madrid City. He will then speak to the media afterwards.

Bellingham, who began his career at Birmingham City, is another step in the process of freshening up Real Madrid’s midfield. He joins Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni in assisting and eventually replacing Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Bellingham gave his farewell speech thanking Borussia Dortmund for the opportunity he had, having played for them since 2020.

Thank you to everyone at BVB [Dortmund] and to the fans for everything over the past three years. It’s been an honour to wear your jersey so many times, in big and small moments. Even though I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once a Borusse, always a Borusse. All the best for the future.” BBC Sports quote Jude Bellingham.

The England international leaves Borussia Dortmund as one of the best young players in the world. He made history in October last year by becoming Borussia’s youngest captain aged 19.
