Her father is the greatest role model in her life as he taught her all the morals she upholds today. As her national team captain, Desire would never entertain nonsense something she said that her father taught her never to elude.
When she began her career, the father gave his blessing but the mother didn’t see the need for a female child to play football. In short, she saw it as a taboo.
On realizing that her mother was going to stop her, she would hide it from her and lie that she was going for tutorials or visiting a friend as she went for training. That went on until when the mother was told of her daughter’s talent, she also began seeing her manifestations.
As a young girl, her role model was Mercy Adike, a female soccer star from Nigeria and she enjoyed watching her way back.
Her advice for upcoming female soccer stars is that they should be focused and try not to be distracted. She said they should make sure they don’t rush into signing contracts because that is where they go wrong, and that mar the career of an emerging player.
Her fans named a bus station after her in Guingamp, France after her long stay at the French football club.
