- Chelsea has held talks with Inter Milan over three players in possible transfer deals this summer
- Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibally and Inter’s Andre Onana could swap teams in the deal
- Chelsea wants a permanent move for Lukaku and Koulibally yet Inter can only offer a loan deal
Chelsea and Inter have engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the potential transfers of Romelu Lukaku, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Andre Onana. Piero Ausilio, the sporting director of Inter, recently travelled to London to continue negotiations with Chelsea. The talks focused on Chelsea’s interest in signing goalkeeper Onana and their hopes of sending both Lukaku and Koulibaly in the opposite direction.
Although no agreements have been reached yet, sources close to the situation have indicated that the meeting was productive and provided both sides with a clearer understanding of their respective demands.

The main topic of discussion centred around Lukaku, who is set to return to Chelsea after the conclusion of his loan spell at Inter. Inter has expressed their desire to keep Lukaku, whom they sold to Chelsea for £97.5 million just two years ago, and negotiations for a potential deal will continue. While Chelsea prefers a permanent transfer, the financial implications make it challenging for Inter to meet those demands.
Lukaku has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, but he has made it known that his priority is to remain at Inter. Meanwhile, Inter is hopeful of securing a loan deal for centre-back Koulibaly, but his high wages pose a hurdle to the move. Either Chelsea or Koulibaly himself may need to contribute to facilitate the transfer.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has also informed clubs in Saudi Arabia about Koulibaly’s availability, and the player is reportedly considering his options.
On the other hand, Chelsea is aiming to sign goalkeeper Onana, but they now face competition from Manchester United. United, managed by Onana’s former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, is monitoring the developments with Chelsea. Inter is hopeful that this interest will spark a bidding war and increase the price for the goalkeeper.
Chelsea hopes to secure a permanent transfer, but the financial aspects may pose challenges. Meanwhile, negotiations continue for Koulibaly and Onana, with wages and rival interest from Manchester United potentially influencing the outcomes.
