Career

As a young man with talent, the player joined ASEC Mimosas of Abidjan and two years later, he joined club Lille on a five-year contract making his debut for the club in a loss to Caen.

Before his contract lapsed at Lille, he moved to Belenenses SAD on loan where he played in 20 league games despite suffering some minor injuries.

In the following season, Koffi joined Lille’s partner club Mouscron on another loan replacing Jean Butez who left for Antwerp and after two years he joined Charleroi in Belgium on a three-year contract.

Internationally, Koffi represented his country with Burkina Faso national team at the African Games football tournament. Two years later, he represented Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations and also featured in the 2021 Afcon tournament in Cameroon.

As a goalkeeper, he is also a good athlete which allows him to be effective on aerial duels when attacking the ball. This also contributes to his ability to get down well for low shots better than a majority of goalkeepers.

Playing on loan spells with teams who are avoiding relegation has given Koffi no shortage of attacks to deal with. His first season on loan with Belenenses saw him face the most shots any goalkeeper in Portuguese football would.

The team had the worst defence in the league but Koffi did remarkably well to help his team avoid relegation, playing all games during the final stretch.

The current season in Belgium for Koffi shows his continuous improvement considering his current club. Playing in a nearly identical situation with Mouscron as in the previous season with Belenenses, the substandard defence in Infront of Koffi has revealed some inconsistencies that come with young goalkeepers but the numbers are good.

My passion is capturing the untold journey of global athletes from humble beginnings to superstars in their own right.
