As a junior, Daria Kasatkina rose as high as world No. 3 in the world rankings. In 2014, she defeated Ivana Jorovic to win the girls’ singles French Open. She turned professional that same year and made her WTA debut at the Kremlin Cup, losing in the first round to Alison Riske.
Kasatkina made her Grand Slam debut the following year at the US Open after qualifying as a lucky loser. Her amazing run at the tournament came to an end in the third round after defeating Ana Konjuh and Kristina Mladenovic.
