Career 

Aymeric Laporte began his football journey in 2000 playing for SU Agen. He then secured a transfer to Bayonne nine years later and spent one season there before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2010 at the age of 16. After his arrival at Athletic Bilbao, Laporte became only the second player born in France to play for them.

He spent one season playing for the club’s youth and reserves teams before making his senior debut in a 2-0 victory over Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona on 28 November 2012.

Laporte played his first La Liga game on 9 December 2012, coming on as a late substitute in a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo. He started the next match, which was against Mallorca, and soon established himself one of the best defenders in La Liga.
