- Iga Swiatek is the first female athlete to sign with Swiss-based sports apparel firm, On
- The company is also sponsoring Ben Shelton
- Roger Federer bought shares in this company in 2019
World No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek is the first female athlete to sign with Swiss-based sports apparel firm, On.
Swiatek wore outfits and shoes by On for the first at the just-completed Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
The Pole was previously sponsored by Nike before switching to Asics from March 2020 to March 2023. She then signed with the Swiss company and backed her first victory.
When Swiatek signed with On, she said she was happy to work with the Swiss company and added that they were developing shoes to complement style of play on the court.
“Exciting year of some announcements and next steps on my journey. I’m thrilled to announce I am the first female tennis athlete at @on_running. I’m happy the On team believes in me as an athlete and a person. We plan to grow, develop and make an impact together,” Iga Swiatek wrote on Instagram,” she posted on her Instagram page.

The Pole told her fans to look out for her new outfits in her next matches adding that On is currently working on her shoe although it will take time to come through.
“You’ll see me in totally new outfits during my next matches and I hope you like it as much as I do. And what’s more exciting… we started to work on my shoes which are crucial in my job and will complement my style of play, giving me everything I need on court. As the process of designing unique shoes takes time, you’ll see me in On shoes later during the year,” she added.
She donned On apparel as she thrashed Aryna Sabalenka to win the Tennis Porsche event in Stuttgart for a second consecutive year.
Ben Shelton and Swiatek are the first athletes to wear the Swiss company’s apparel and footwear.
Olivier Bernhard, a National Ironman winner partnered with David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti to start On based in Switzerland in 2012.
They debuted with the Cloudracer footwear released in 2012. Olympic gold medalist triathlete Nicola Spirig, wore this shoe as well as Frederik van Lierde, a former Ironman World Champion.
One of the main factors in On’s expansion is the use of a cushioning technology called CloudTec in their shoes.
Surprisingly, retired Swiss tennis player Roger Federer is a shareholder in the company since 2019. On launched a new sneaker to the marked dubbed ‘The Roger’ after Federer became a shareholder.

Since then, On and The Roger have seen significant growth in popularity. The company unveiled ‘THE ROGER Pro Clay’ sneaker, the most recent iteration of the “THE ROGER” in March 2023.
Roger Federer’s affiliation with On, according to Iga Swiatek, is a solid referral statement for tennis players looking to sign with the brand.
She added that the influence of the 20-time Grand Slam champion was one of the factors in the Swiss company’s desire to attract other tennis stars.
The fact that Roger is involved in that kind of company is just a good kind of recommendation for tennis players. I think also he influenced a lot on their side, so that’s why they want to go further and they want to sign players,” Swiatek stated.
