Arsenal broke their ticket sales record on Thursday as they sold out over 55,000 tickets. According to The Independent, over 60,000 tickets had been sold by Sunday morning in what will be a record crowd for a women’s club match in England. The sell out means that Arsenal have had over 240,000 tickets purchased this season in their Women’s Super League matches and UEFA Champions League fixtures.

Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham said Arsenal selling out the Emirates was a wonderful news for the club. When the Gunners faced Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals of Champions League at Emirates Stadium, the crowd was just over 5,000.

“It’s wonderful news that such a huge match for us has sold out. We would like to say thank you to our supporters, with over 60,000 tickets sold for Monday’s match. We also say thank you for your fantastic support throughout the season – at Emirates Stadium, at Meadow Park and at grounds across England and Europe.” The Independent quotes Vinai Venkatesham.

Arsenal sold 21,307 tickets for their quarter-final second-leg clash against German giants Bayern Munich last month. The attendance was a record for a women’s European game hosted by the the Gunners and it will be smashed tomorrow (Monday) against Wolfsburg.

Arsenal Set To Lock Horns With Wolfsburg

Arsenal were knocked out of last season’s Champions League by Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals. They will be seeking revenge in their second-leg match at the Emirates Stadium on Monday.

The Gunners showed a spirited fight, coming from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Volkswagen Arena last weekend. This was achieved despite Jonas Eidevall’s side missing key players such as captain Kim Little, Leah Williamson, Viviane Miedema and Beth Mead.
