Just like many young footballers, Diogo Jota had plenty of time to play competitive games growing up. At the age of nine, he enrolled into the rooster of Gondomar, a small club in the FC Porto area. He didn’t take long to make an impression with the team and become one of their best players in the youth ranks.
In 2013, Jota joined Pacos de Ferreira, a Portuguese club with a reputation for developing young players. After just one season with the youth team, he was promoted to the senior team due to his ability on the pitch. It was at Pacos de Ferreira where Jota’s goalscoring records began.
