Early life

Bukayo Saka was born on September 5, 2001, in London, United Kingdom, to his mother, Adenike Saka, and father, Yomi Saka.

Saka’s granddad went to university in the United Kingdom. In addition, his father (Yomi Saka) was raised in the United Kingdom.

His maternal grandfather was a successful man who lived in one of Lagos’ most affluent neighbourhoods.

His parents named him “Bukayo,” a unisex name that means “Adds to happiness.”

On describing the significance of his father Yomi to his football career, Saka said: “He’s a tremendous influence for me. When I was a child, he always kept me focused and humble.

Saka started playing youth football for the neighbourhood team Greenford Celtic before signing with Arsenal.

Personal life

Away from the football field, Saka is a Christian, and when his family relocated to be nearer to Arsenal’s training facilities, they attend the Pentecostal Kingsborough Centre in Uxbridge. His Instagram username is “God’s Child.”

Saka has stated that if he weren’t a football player, he would either play basketball or be an actor.

Career

At just seven years old, Saka enrolled in the Hale End Academy of Arsenal. He would later meet Emile Smith Rowe, a fellow Gunners youth product, there.

Per Mertesacker, the manager of the Arsenal Academy at the time, claimed that the club was honouring him since he “excelled” through the club’s junior system.

Nonetheless, Saka continued to make good strides and made his full Arsenal debut at home in the team’s Europa League match against Qarabag in December 2018.

On January 1, 2019, he made his debut Premier League appearance, replacing Alex Iwobi in the 4-1 victory over Fulham.

Bukayo Saka scored his first senior goal for the north London club on September 19, 2019, when he buried a superb strike in a Europa League group-stage match against German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Saka was beginning to demonstrate his potential for the Gunners on a more consistent basis at the time.

Saka continued to demonstrate great promise after Mikel Arteta was chosen as Emery’s replacement in December 2019 and saw greater playing time under the Spaniard. With Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney’s injuries, he frequently played left back.

Saka has been key to Arsenal’s efforts to win their first premier league title since 2003–04, scoring some important goals along the way. With the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on August 20, 2022, he achieved his 100th Premier League appearance, becoming the second-youngest Arsenal player to do so.

Bukayo made the decision to represent England internationally. In October 2020, he received his first call-up to the senior squad.

On October 8, 2020, in a friendly international match against Wales, Saka began and made his senior England debut. In the 76th minute, he was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, another member of the Arsenal team.

On June 2, 2021, in a friendly exhibition match in preparation for Euro 2020, he scored his first goal in a senior international match by scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Austria.

Net worth

Saka has only been a professional footballer for just five years, and because he came up via Arsenal’s system, he initially made a low income. But now, according to sources, he is worth $4 million.

Saka signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in June 2020; before that, he was still a relative rookie and earning wages that were favourable to Arsenal. His first substantial salary was £30,000 per week. Nonetheless, a string of strong performances resulted in a pay raise to £70,000.
