- Chelsea has had the busiest January transfer window amongst all the Premier League clubs
- The Blues have signed a number of players in their bid to bounce back from poor form
- The club is now prioritising handing Mason Mount a new long-term contract
Chelsea’s busy winter transfer window is officially closed, therefore, they are concentrating on coming to an agreement to renew midfielder Mason Mount’s deal.
Todd Boehly, the club’s co-owner, stated earlier this season that locking down right-back Reece James and Mount to long-term contracts was among the club’s top priorities for this year. However, while James signed a six-year deal back in September, Mount has not yet done so.
Although a deal has not yet been made with the 24-year-old, insiders claim that Chelsea is currently putting all of their efforts towards getting a favourable result in the upcoming months.

As a reward for Mount’s ascension to the position of a consistent starter for both club and country, Chelsea is willing to offer him one of the highest-paid players in the group.
Although Mount is said to be eager to stay at Chelsea and re-establish himself as a vital player in the Blues’ ambitious plans for the upcoming seasons, Mount’s representation are aware of interest from other teams.
Declan Rice, the West Ham player and Mount’s best buddy, is one of Chelsea’s goals. Rice, a former member of the Blues school, has recently drawn considerable interest from Arsenal, but even after their £106 million purchase of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, Chelsea are still eager for a reunion.

Although it is not necessary for Chelsea to sign Mount to a long-term contract in order to pursue Rice, people familiar with the issue believe it would be helpful in persuading the West Ham midfielder to join his pal at Stamford Bridge.
While Chelsea continues to speak with the representatives of injured midfielder N’Golo Kante, whose contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, Thiago Silva is expected to sign a new contract in the coming weeks.
The players whose contracts expire in 2024 must also be decided. Joining Mount in their contracts’ last 18 months are Mateo Kovacic, Cesar Azpilicueta, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Christian Pulisic.
