Tusker FC celebrate in a past match
  • Tusker have won just one of their last five matches
  • They have never lost to Police FC
  • Police have won three of their last five games

With just one win in their last five assignments, Tusker FC are keen to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Kenya Police FC at the Kasarani Stadium.

The brewers’ only victory over the last five has been against Sofapaka, where they won 1-0, while they have drawn against Ulinzi Stars, Nzoia Sugar and Talanta.

Police on the contrast have been in good form, despite their midweek defeat at the hands of AFC Leopards. Under new coach Francis Baraza, who is a former Tusker FC assistant coach, the Police side was unbeaten.

The two teams have already met once in the recent past, in a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium which Police came from behind to draw 2-2.

Overall, Police has not beaten Tusker since they were promoted last season. They have played thrice, Tusker winning once and drawing the last two.

Skipper Humphrey Mieno hopes the team can ruck up victory.

“It will be a tough match definitely looking at how they have been performing. But as a team we have prepared well and determined to go for three points,” said the midfielder.

His sentiments are echoed by head coach Robert Matano who has urged the team to rise back on top with victory at Kasarani.

“WE have slipped in the last few matches and I believe we have the ability to bounce back. The focus is there and in training the players have shown hunger that they want to get back to good results,” said the coach.

He added; “We know we are going to face a very tough team but we are ready to give our best and win.”

Police meanwhile are keen on getting back to winning ways and more so registering their first win over the 12-time champions.

“We knew that at some point, we can come short and lose but that is not to mean that we can be derailed. We know we are facing a tough team and we should be able to be at our best. The players have shown some good intent to bounce back,” Baraza noted.
