Kansas City Chiefs defeated Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on Sunday to set up Super Bowl 57 showdown with Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona.

Patrick Mahomes had to rely on his badly strained right ankle when the Kansas City Chiefs drove forward with a chance to win the AFC Championship. Mahomes strained to reach the mark and was headed out of bounds by Joseph Ossai, who sent him sprawling into the bench.

The amazing run and the 15-yard penalty are what the Kansas City Chiefs needed to win the match 23-20. Harrison Butker sent a 45-yard kick over the crossbar to win the match for the Chiefs.

Speaking after the match, coach Andy Reid appreciated his men for the good work done.

“It’s a tough bunch. My heart goes out to them, man; they’re tough guys. They worked so hard this week. Pat and Kelce were both banged up a little bit. They pushed through, and great things happened.” Andy Reid said, as per Daily Mail

The Bengals saw their attempt to reach two straight Super Bowls end in disappointment. Meanwhile, Kansas City are returning to the Super Bowl for the third time in four years.

Awaiting them is coach Andy Reid’s former team Philadelphia Eagles. The fixture will feature a brother vs brother showdown between Philadelphia center Jason Kelce and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

How The Game Unfolded

Despite suffering from high ankle sprain, Patrick Mahomes threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns in the exciting match.

Burrow was sacked three times in the first quarter alone as the Cincinnati offence failed to gain a single yard. On the other hand, Mahomes led Kansas City down the field, setting up field goals on their first two possessions.

Cincinnati’s offence finally got into the game in the second quarter and found themselves on the scoreboard, thanks to a chip-shot field goal from Evan McPherson.

The Chiefs looked determined and jumped into a 13-3 lead after Travis Kelce caught his 15th career postseason TD. Tee Higgins hauled in a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter to tie the game 13-13.

The Chiefs responded immediately, going ahead after a brilliant play between Mahomes and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Cincinnati levelled the contest once again, and the game looked tough as it went into the fourth quarter.

Both teams held on strong with the scoreline at 20-20 until Mahomes and Butker won it for Kansas City Chiefs. This was their first win against Cincinnati in their last four meetings.
