Harry Kane’s second-half double propelled Tottenham to a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace, bringing him within two goals of tying the club’s all-time scoring mark set by Jimmie Greaves.
Spurs had a dismal start to their Premier League campaign, coming from behind to draw 2-2 against Brentford before falling 2-0 to Aston Villa at home.
In a lacklustre first half, it appeared as though Tottenham would play another unimpressive game, but Kane gave them a stylish comeback.
Prior to Matt Doherty and Son Heung-min making it a rout and Tottenham moving two points adrift of the top four, his brace on his 300th top-flight appearance brought him to 264 goals for the club and within striking distance of Greaves (266).

Hugo Lloris made a great save to deny Jordan Ayew following a deft one-two between Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze to save Spurs in the first half when they were under a lot of pressure.
Joachim Andersen’s long-range attempt almost fooled Lloris, but 155 seconds after the game’s restart, the Palace goal was pierced.
With Ivan Perisic’s wonderful right-wing cross making it much simpler for him to nudge in at the far post, England captain Harry Kane couldn’t have wished for a simpler finish.
Just than five minutes later, Kane doubled his total when he hammered past Vicente Guaita and into the bottom-left corner after collecting a low ball that Bryan Gil had whipped in.
Doherty’s first goal of the year, which came after excellent work from Kane and Son, secured the victory. His close-range drive had too much force for Guaita.
The game’s decisive moment belonged to Son, who outmuscled Marc Guehi to seize Kane’s lofted ball and score his first league goal since his hat-trick against Leicester City in September.

Antonio Conte’s comments ahead of this game sparked fears he could soon leave the club, indicating he may do so if he feels Spurs cannot challenge for Premier League and European glory.
Conte’s contract expires at the end of the season, but Wednesday’s performance may have served as a reminder to the former Chelsea boss that Spurs do have the quality to contend for more than simply a place in the top four.
Talk of him departing will die down if they continue in this vein.
Kane and Son surpass Salah and Mane
Kane and Son scored in the same Premier League match for the 34th time, surpassing Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as the combo with the most goals in the league.
Tottenham will probably have no trouble obtaining a Champions League spot if Son reclaims his Golden Boot-winning form from last season and makes such games a regular occurrence in the second half of this season.
Bryan opens his bank
Bryan’s superb delivery from the right helped set up Kane for his second goal, which was his first goal involvement in the Premier League in his 12th game.
