Gianluigi Buffon biography states that he was born on January 28, 1978, to a family of athletes in Carrara, Italy.
Buffon began his football career with the Parma youth system at the age of 13. He initially played as a midfielder before becoming a goalkeeper. He first played when Parma youth team’s goalkeepers suffered injuries.
