Early Life 

Savannah Marshall biography states that the female boxer was born on May 19, 1991, in Hartlepool, County Durham, England.

Savannah attended the English Martyrs School and got 12 GCSEs. She then proceeded to Hartlepool College, where she gained a Distinction in a BTEC National Diploma in Sport.

Marshall fell in love with boxing at the age of 12 after seeing a boy showing off his trophy on the streets.

Alongside two of her girl friends, Savannah Marshall joined a boxing club, Hartlepool Headland. The club had no girls, and so Marshall’s two friends never returned after on the second day.

Marshall used to train alongside boys at the local boxing club. The Hartlepool Headland boxing club trainer used to see Marshall as an annoying little girl. He even tried to discourage her from boxing, but she still showed up for training.

Savannah Marshall emerged victorious at the 2012 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in China. As a result, she was the favourite to win gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.

However, she lost to Marina Volnova in the quarter-finals. Savannah redeemed herself at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, winning gold in the women’s middleweight division.

She reached the semi-finals of the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and, as a result, booked her slot in the Rio 2016 Olympics. Savannah lost at the Olympics in what she describes as a controversial decision. And there is more to Savannah Marshall biography.

Professional Boxing Career 

On May 18, 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced that he had signed Savannah Marshall to a professional promotional contract.

The British boxer made her professional boxing debut on August 26, 2017, against Sydney LeBlanc. She won the fight, which was on the undercard of the Mayweather v McGregor bout.

Savannah won her next two fights before winning facing Yanina Orozco for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental super-middleweight title. She defeated Yanina to claim the vacant title.

The female boxer decided to part ways with Mayweather’s promotion and returned to England several weeks after becoming a champion.

Savannah continued with her impressive run until she faced Claressa Shields on October 15, 2022. The American boxer handed Savannah her first defeat since becoming a professional.

As a result of the defeat, Savannah lost the WBO female middleweight title.
