Morocco, who became the first African – and Arab – country to reach the World Cup semi-finals, will face France this week.

Cristiano Ronaldo was not among the starting eleven in Portugal’s team that conceded to Morocco in the first half. The 37-year-old came on in the 51st minute, replacing Ruben Neves.

However, there was little he could do to help his nation stage a comeback and proceed to the semi-finals. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward walked down the tunnel in tears after the shock defeat by giant killers Morocco.

Ronaldo has finally spoken since Portugal’s exit from the World Cup. The 37-year-old posted on Instagram that winning the World Cup was his biggest and most ambitious dream.

‘Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. Fortunately, I won many titles of international dimensions, including Portugal, but putting our county’s name on the highest foot in the World was my biggest dream.’ He wrote

Cristiano Ronaldo said that he gave it all but was unlucky in the five appearances – 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.

‘I fought hard for this dream. In the five appearances, I scored in World Cups over 16 years, always by the side of great players and supported by millions of Portuguese, I gave my all. I never turned my face to the fight, and I never gave up on that dream.’

Ronaldo also spoke about the reports claiming that he had implored to be let home after not being in the starting eleven during Portugal’s match against Switzerland and South Korea.

According to the former Juventus forward, much has been said about him, but his dedication to Portugal has not changed.

‘I just want you all to know that much has been said, much has been written, much has been speculated, but my dedication to Portugal has not changed, not for a moment.’

At the end of his post, Cristiano Ronaldo said that he hopes the weather will be a good advisor and allow everyone to draw their own conclusions.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently without a team after Manchester United terminated his contract last month. The legendary attacker fell out with the club after his interview with Piers Morgan.

Since the World Cup is almost drawing to an end, Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to join a new team in the coming days.
