Whereas West Ham lost five in a row, Brentford set a new Premier League record by going five consecutive games without losing.
The last time Brentford had such was when they went six games without losing between February and March 1993.
Ivan Toney was on the scoresheet once again for Brentford last night. Josh Dasilva also found the back of the net in the match.
A frustrated London Stadium booed West Ham for their poor performance this season. The Hammers are just one point above the relegation zone.
Whereas Brentford emerged victorious, their key player Ivan Toney suffered an injury during the match.
Brentford Defeat West Ham
West Ham enjoyed good attacking spells after the game started. However, they were not creative enough to break into Brentford’s defence and score.
Ivan Toney opened the scoring for Brentford in the 18th minute after West Ham poorly defended a throw-in. Mathias Jensen threw the ball, and it was flicked by Mathias Jorgensen.
Christian Norgaard then hit a volleyball which West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski saved. However, Ivan Toney was in the right place to put the ball into the back of the net.
The second goal came a few minutes before the halftime break as West Ham once again poorly defended a throw-in.
Ivan Toney played a lobbed ball which went over the West Ham defenders from a throw-in near the halfway line. Josh Dasilva was too strong for Aaron Cresswell, and he ended up beating Lukasz Fabianski to score his first goal since August.
The Bees played comfortably in the second half as they successfully managed to defend their two-goal lead up to the final whistle.
Ivan Toney Injured
Ivan Toney suffered a nasty knee injury in the last minutes of Brentford’s 2-0 win over West Ham. The England international could be out of action for several weeks after being stretchered off.
Toney sustained the injury after falling awkwardly on his right knee while rising for an aerial ball. He was on the pitch for several minutes receiving treatment.

Afterwards, he was stretchered off the pitch and his position taken by Pontus Jansson.
Brentford manager Frank Thomas hopes that Toney suffered a minor injury.
“Of course, it didn’t look great, but I’ve also been in this game long enough to know that you never know exactly what it is until it’s been assessed over the following days. Hopefully it’s a minor injury, a minor thing, there’s a good chance for that, but of course, it could be worse. We don’t know yet.” Frank Thomas said after the game, according to BBC Sports.
