Iga Swiatek has had a stellar 2022 season that she will not forget any time soon. She recently claimed her eighth title in San Diego.
Iga Swiatek extended her ranking points tally to 10,835 after defeating qualifier Donna Vekic in the final. Speaking after winning the WTA 500 event, Iga Swiatek said that she would remember the 2022 season for the rest of her life.

She also said that she wishes to have another season like 2022 in the near future.
“I think this is going to be the season that I’m going to be thinking of for the rest of my life. On the other hand, I would love to have a season like that in the future. I guess the best way to do that is to not focus on what happened but focusing on what’s next. I still know I have many things to improve, so I’m looking forward to it.
Iga Swiatek will next compete at the season-ending WTA Finals in Forth Worth, Texas, from October 31.
How many tournaments has Iga Swiatek won in 2022?
Iga Swiatek officially began her 2022 season on January 3, 2022, at the start of the WTA Tour. She entered the season as world No. 9.
The Polish international has accumulated a 37-match win streak and is the twenty-eighth world number-one player in singles.
Since the start of the 2022 season, Iga Swiatek has won two WTA 500 titles, two Slam trophies and four 1000 titles. She has won eight of the nine finals she has been in this season.
The only tournament final she has failed to win this year is Agel Open in early October. Iga Swiatek had a tough run at the Agel Open before eventually losing to home favourite Krejcikova in the finals.
Here are the tournaments she has won this season:
1. Qatar Open
Iga Swiatek opened her account for the 2022 season by winning the Qatar Open. After an impressive run, she defeated Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit in the finals.
2. Indian Wells Masters
The success in Qatar brought an unbelievable run for the Polish international. She won the Indian Wells Masters and was crowned the new world number one after the retirement of Ashleigh Barty.
Iga Swiatek defeated Maria Sakkari in the finals, played on March 20, 2022.
3. Miami Open
Iga Swiatek continued with her impressive performance at the Miami Open. She defeated Viktorija Golubic, Madison Brengle, Coco Grauff, Petra Kvitova and Jessica Pegula on her way to the finals.
The victory over Naomi Osaka in the finals of the Miami Open on April 3 made her the fourth woman to win the Miami Open and the Indian Wells Masters.

4. Stuttgart Open
Iga Swiatek 2022 season continued at the Stuttgart Open, where she once again emerged victorious. She overcame former US Champion Emma Raducanu on her way to the finals, where she faced Aryna Sabalenka.
Iga also defeated Eva Lys and Liudmila Samsonova at the Stuttgart Open in Germany.
5. Italian Open
The 21-year-old extended her magnificent run in 2022 at the Italian Open, where she successfully defended her Italian Open title.
Iga defeated Elena Gabriela Ruse, Victoria Azarenka, Bianca Andreescu, Aryna Sabalenka and finally, Ons Jabeur before winning the title.
6. French Open
Iga Swiatek claimed her French Open title in June after defeating Coco Grauff in the final. She overcame three US players on the way to claiming her second Grand Slam title.
7. US Open

Iga Swiatek had a memorable run at Flushing Meadows as she won her first US Open title. After defeating Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the final, Iga took her overall count to 17 titles won since becoming a professional.
8. San Diego Open
San Diego Open is the latest and eighth title Iga Swiatek has won in 2022. The Polish international defeated Zheng Qinwen, Coco Grauff, Jessica Pegula and eventually Donna Vekic before claiming her fourth title in the US this year.
