Devin Haney outclassed former titleholder George Kambosos, who had home support at the Rod Laver Arena.
The rematch was the only chance George Kambosos had to show he had improved his game. The Australian has now suffered defeat at the hands of Devin Haney for the second time in his career.
Devin Haney won the bout via unanimous decision, and there was no controversy in the scorecards. All three judges scored in favour of Devin Haney – 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110.

The 23-year-old is only the eighth male boxer in history to hold all four belts simultaneously. He retained the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles after the Devin Haney v George Kambosos clash.
George Kambosos entered the ring with the aim of defeating Devin Haney. The Australian acted as the aggressor, switching back and forth between his regular stance and southpaw.
George Kambosos pinned Devin Haney on the ropes with a flurry of punches a few minutes before the end of the first round.
Devin Haney responded well in the second round and began to take control of the fight. He landed strong punches in the third round as he became increasingly comfortable in attack and defence.
George Kambosos landed some decent punches on his opponent in the fifth round. However, Haney utilized an opportunity he found to open a cut under Kambosos’ left eye.
Devin Haney dominated the fight in the seventh round as he peppered his opponent with a series of jabs. However, Kambosos gained momentum in the eighth round and landed a few combinations before the end of the round.

George Kambosos tried to attack aggressively before the final bell as the crowd at Rod Laver Arena rallied behind him. But Devin remained calm and emerged victorious at the end of the bout.

After winning the Devin Haney v George Kambosos bout, the 23-year-old is ready to face anyone. Speaking after the fight, Devin Haney said that he wants to fight the best boxers in the world.
“I should definitely be in the pound-for-pound rankings. We want to fight the best fighters in the world. I believe I am the best fighter in the world so whoever it is next, bring them on.”
According to Sky Sports, Devin Haney is eager to face the legendary Vasiliy Lomachenko in his next fight. The American boxer believes his victory over George Kambosos has placed him in a position to fight Vasiliy.
Devin Haney could also face Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta Davis, Maxi Hughes or Isaac Cruz in his fight.
