Reece James extends his Chelsea contract until 2028

Reece James has committed his future to the Blues today. James has extended his Chelsea contract until 2028. 

The talented full-back is more than happy to extend his time with the Blues. Reece James expressed his gratitude to the club’s new owners, fans and everyone at the club. 

He was already under contract at Chelsea until 2025, a deal he signed in January 2020. 

The England international has been a Chelsea supporter since his childhood days. He has assured Chelsea fans that he will stay at Stamford Bridge until his contract expires.

James, who has already made 128 appearances for Chelsea, will surely add more in the coming days. He is one of the key players in Thomas Tuchel’s squad. 

Chelsea’s new owner and chairman Todd Boehly described Reece James as an outstanding player of the club. Todd is thrilled with Reece James signing a new contract and believes the 22-year-old will flourish at Chelsea in the coming seasons. 

Chelsea’s co-controlling owners, Jose E. Feliciano and Behdad Eghbali, are also happy after Reece James committed his future to Chelsea. The two praised James for his technical ability on the pitch. They believe Reece James will play a big part in Chelsea’s success for many years to come. 

Reece James, who turns 23 in December, is one of the best players at Chelsea. The England international is known for his defending and attacking abilities. 

Manchester City and Real Madrid reportedly identified Reece James as a potential signing last summer. However, the talented full-back opted to remain at Chelsea. 

Reece James is a graduate of Chelsea academy. He began training with Chelsea’s academy at the age of six in 2006. The youngster had a short spell with Fulham at the age of seven but returned to Chelsea, where he continued to develop. 

The England international turned professional in March 2017 while playing for Chelsea. Reece James captained the Blues Under-18 team during the 2017-18 season to win the FA Youth Cup. 

Chelsea named him the club’s Academy Player of the Year at the end of that season. The Blues offered Reece James a four-year contract in June 2018, then sent him on loan to Wigan Athletic. 

He returned to Chelsea at the end of the 2018-19 season after impressing at Wigan Athletic. Reece James was to make his debut for Chelsea at the start of the 2019-20 season but suffered an injury which forced him out until September. 

Reece was a key player in Frank Lampard’s squad and cemented his position as the Blues’ right back after Thomas Tuchel took over. He was part of Chelsea players that played a significant role as the Blues won the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League.
