Boston Athletics Association introduced the Non-binary category on the 2023 Boston Marathon competition which is set to be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 and all the non binary athletes who wish to compete will attend without registration.

According to organizers of the 2023 Boston Marathon which is also the 127th edition of the marathon in a statement early this week said registrations is ongoing with the application allowing non-binary athletes to select the nonbinary for the gender option.
“We are currently working on expanding opportunities for non-binary athletes at our events, including the upcoming 2023 Boston Marathon,” Said Boston Athletics Association Marathon.
The Association added that they now have the qualifying standards for this group of athletes and they’ve been working to see them included in their competitions.
“While we do not currently have qualifying standards for non-binary athletes, we are working on ways non-binary participants are accepted into the event,” the Boston Athletics Association added.
The non-binary athlete who previously completed a marathon competition as a non-binary qualifies for Boston Marathon and they are advised to submit their application.
“We are having discussions at the moment with non-binary athletes to further promote their inclusion in all of our events.” the Boston Athletics Association added.
The organizers also offered a list of qualifying times that which inclusive of the qualifying times for two divisions.
However, the statement further stated that moving forward the terms will keep changing due to regular revisions that will be done regularly for a better experience.
“As we prepare for future races, participants can expect non-binary times to be updated accordingly,” Boston Marathon organizers said.
As a way to track corners to improve, the 2023 Boston Marathon will be a good platform for the association to learn the areas that may need improvement.
“We view this first year as an opportunity to learn and grow together.”
The Boston Marathon is among six World Marathon Majors that usually feature the world’s top athletes including the Olympians.
Kenya’s Evans Chebet and compatriot Peres Jepchirchir won the Boston Marathons’ 126th edition in men’s and women’s races respectively.

Cherono who is also the 2019 Boston Marathon champion clocked 2:07:21 while Kipruto recorded a time record of 2:07:27.
The marathon was previously affected by the covid-19 leading to the postponement of the 2020 edition but it made the return to its official date; first Monday of April in 2021.
Who is considered Non-binary Gender
They are also known as genderqueer.
Non-binary gender usually refers to a gender that is not either male or female identity.
This type of gender is categorized under the transgender umbrella.
