PSG and Wijnaldum part ways

Paris Saint Germain and Georginio Wijnaldum have parted ways. The French club and Wijnaldum have reportedly decided to part ways today.
According to Fabrizio Romano, work is currently in progress for Wijnaldum to find a new club as soon as possible. Paris Saint Germain are prepared to loan him out in the next few days.
Jini Wijnaldum joined Paris Saint Germain last summer from Liverpool as a free agent. However, the Dutchman struggled to impress at Paris Saint Germain the whole of last season.
Wijnaldum made 38 appearances for the Parisians last season, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He helped the French giants win the 2021-22 Ligue One title. Paris Saint Germain do not have plans to extend Wijnaldum’s stay at the club despite his contract expiring in the summer of 2024.
Wijnaldum is one of the highest-paid Paris Saint Germain players. The 31 years old earns 165,000 euros every week.
PSG are open to negotiations with any team interested in signing the star midfielder this summer. AS Roma are reportedly interested in signing Wijnaldum. However, the Italian club are yet to make an official bid to Paris Saint Germain.
Paris Saint Germain announced some days ago that they are planning to release some players from their squad. According to reports, the Parisians want to release eleven players so as to finance the wages of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.
Jini Wijnaldum was on top of the list of players expected to leave. Other top players who PSG intend to release this summer transfer window are Julian Draxler and Mauro Icardi.
Defensive trio of Abdou Diallo, Thilo Kehrer and Layvin Kurzawa are among the players to be released before the window is closed. Danilo Pereira, Idrissa Gueye, Ander Herrera and Leonardo Paredes are also up for sale this summer.
Presnel Kimpembe is another star player who is likely to leave Paris Saint Germain this summer. Chelsea are keen on signing the centre-back from the Parisians.
The Blues offered 40 million euros to sign Presnel Kimpembe. However, the Parisians want 42 million euros for the star defender to leave this summer.
Chelsea are expected to come back with an improved offer in the coming days. The Blues need to sign Kimpembe so as to fill the gap left behind by Antonio Rudiger and Christensen. Rudiger joined Real Madrid, whereas Christensen joined FC Barcelona at the start of the summer transfer window.
Paris Saint Germain also intends to release Neymar Jr. According to sources, PSG are open to selling Neymar Jr if acceptable proposals arrive.
Neymar Jr still has a contract with Paris Saint Germain until 2025. The 30 years old is among the highest-paid players at Paris Saint Germain.
