Paris Saint Germain star in Kenya for holiday

  • He has not been called up to the Argentina squad for the international window

Paris Saint Germain star Mauro Icardi has been in Kenya for holiday with his wife Wanda Narra and shared photos of themselves enjoying breakfast at the famous Giraffe Manor Restaurant in Nairobi.

Icardi is coming off a tough season at PSG where they failed to achieve their biggest target, winning the Champions League. PSG were eliminated in the round of 16 by eventual champions Real Madrid. However, they won the French Ligue One.

To relax off his mind after the season, Icardi chose the African continent as the preferred start of his holiday and was excited with the giraffe-feeding breakfast at the Manor.

“Today we were able to enjoy another beautiful story among animals, a story in which this ‘mansion’ called Giraffe Manor hides from the 70s and 80s, where the Rothschild Giraffe was in danger of extinction in Kenya with only a few hundred specimen,” Icardi’s caption on one of the photos of him feeding a giraffe stated.

“In this ‘mansion’ they did everything possible to live with them and make the giraffes feel in their habitat and thus be able to satisfy all their needs and help this species to multiply more and more, a unique and unforgettable experience,” he added with a Kenyan flag emoji at the end.

According to descriptions on the internet, the Giraffe Manor was set in a 1930s with gardens and a resident herd of endangered giraffes. This luxe all-inclusive hotel is 6 km from the Karen Blixen Museum and 7 km from Bomas of Kenya.

Featuring 4-poster beds and/or plush furnishings, the 10 refined rooms with free Wi-Fi come with balconies or terraces. All have coffee machines, mosquito nets and safes. Some rooms offer direct access to feeding the giraffes. There are 2 split-level suites, 1 with a patio.

The Giraffe Manor has been a preferred stopping point for most celebrity visitors in Kenya.

Icardi was not legft behind as he savoured the Nairobi beauty with his wife. They arrived in Nairobi after spending a few days in Rwanda where they tracked Gorillas, one of the biggest tourist attraction in the neighboring country.

Icardi started his holiday early as he had not been called up to the Argentine national team that beat Italy 3-0 on Wednesday night to clinch the Finalissima. The Cup was a competition between the Copa America winners and the Euro 2020 winners.

The 29 year old was initially loaned to the Parisiens in the 2019-20 season from Inter Milan before making the move permanent. He has 23 goals in 64 appearances for the PSG side.

Icardi is married to Argentine media personality Nara. Nara was married to Icardi’s former Sampdoria teammate Maxi López, but the couple split after her relationship with Icardi was exposed. She and López began divorce proceedings in December 2013. Nara and Icardi subsequently married on 27 May 2014, not long after the divorce was finalised, at a small ceremony in Buenos Aires.

The marriage to Nara provoked animosity against Icardi in Argentina, making him a target of rumors and unsubstantiated claims by Argentinian tabloids.

It has been argued that, arguably, the generalized hatred against him has been an important factor against his being called to the national team, and even prospective calls have been heavily criticized by figures such as the late Diego Maradona, who had entangled in bitter exchanges with Icardi on Twitter as a result of his marriage to Nara.

During an April 2014 Serie A match between Sampdoria and Inter, López notably refused to shake Icardi’s hand, leading the press to dub the game the “Wanda derby”. Two years later, López repeated the story by again refusing to shake Icardi’s hand during a Serie A match against Torino.
