After poor performance in the World Cup qualification group, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have agreed to terminate the appointment of Black Stars Coach, Charles Akonnor and his two Assistants with immediate effect.

This follows the receipt of the technical reports from Akonnor and the Black Stars Management Committee, following Ghana’s Group G World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Ghana labored to a 1-0 home win over Ethiopia and then lost by the same score-line in South Africa in the first two games of its pool, in which only the top team advances to the next stage of qualifying.
