Mr. Ban Ki-moon who has been the chair of the international Olympic Committee Ethics Commission will remain in the office for an additional four years term after he was re-elected yesterday through a two days meeting that was held in Tokyo.
Ki-moon,the former United Nations Secretary-General who has been in the office since 2017 was elected in his capacity as personality, independent member who is not active, honorary, honour or former IOC Members.
Its through this Session that Mrs Hanqin Xue from People’s Republic of China was re-elected as a member of the Commission for an additional four-year term. Mrs Xue joined the Commission the same year with Mr Ban Ki-moon, 2017.
“Chair Ban Ki-moon and Xue have been elected in their capacity as personalities, independent members who are not active, honorary, honour or former IOC Members,” Olympic Website stated.
Mrs Laura Chinchilla from Costa Rica was elected as a new member of the Ethics Commission. She has been a member of IOC since 2019.
Ms Laura Chinchilla has been elected as Member of the IOC Ethics Commission in her quality as active, honorary, honour or former IOC Member.

Ban was the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, from January 2007 to December 2016.
