The opening match of Group B was paused amid emotional scenes after Eriksen fell to the turf at the end of the first half.

Danish players immediately gestured to the medical staff to attend to Eriksen and his teammates were in tears as the 29-year-old was given CPR.

Eriksen was eventually carried off the field at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen after having lengthy treatment and a photo showed him apparently holding his head as he laid on the stretcher.

Around the 40-minute mark as play resumed from a throw-in, the Inter Milan star fell to the ground with referee Anthony Taylor immediately requesting medical assistance.

The 29-year-old received CPR as the Danish players formed a wall around him to give him some privacy before being stretchered off after 13 minutes on the pitch.

He was immediately taken to hospital in Copenhagen before news broke that the ex-Tottenham star was awake and stable.

And Eriksen has gone one better – even speaking to his Denmark buddies and telling them to continue the match, according to Sport 1 via Fabrizio Romano.

But just after being rushed to hospital Christian Eriksen has FaceTimed his Denmark team-mates to tell them that they can play on after huge scares rankled through the footballing world on Saturday afternoon. The Inter Milan star collapsed on the pitch as the Danish faced Finland at Euro 2020.

It was completely understandable that the Finland vs Denmark game was postponed earlier today, but there was a lot of surprise that it re-started and that the Belgium vs Russia game also went ahead.

Eriksen FaceTimed his Denmark pals from his hospital bed and asked them to play tonight.

With everyone from the footballing world to the Coperate world uniting in prayer for Inter star man , his team mate Romelu Lukaku was not also left behind as he scored for Belgium in normal circumstances, but you just knew he would score tonight and do something to honour his Inter Milan teammate Christian Eriksen.

He immediately ran to the camera and shouted “Chris I love you”, and it’s a sentiment that’s been echoed by a lot of the footballing world today.
