Sundowns Ladies, TUT set pace in Women’s National League - Sports Leo

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their winning streak this past weekend when they edged out Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 1-0 at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein in a Safa’s Women’s National League match.

This was Sundowns’ seventh victory in as many matches and they lead the log table with 21 points. In the second place, two points adrift, are Tshwane University of Technology (TUT-PTA).

TUT defeated struggling Durban Ladies 3-2 at the TUT Main Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

Both Sundowns and TUT are yet to lose since the start of the league.

Limpopo’s First Touch Academy, captained by Banyana Banyana’s Noko Matlou, had no problems against Thunderbirds at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London, winning 2-0.

First Touch are now in third place, with 14 points after four wins, two draws and a loss.

Fourth-placed Coal City Wizards gave hosts Tsunami Queens a 5-0 drubbing at Bohlokong Stadium in Bethlehem.

University of the Western Cape (UWC) won the battle of the Universities when they defeated University of Johannesburg (UJ) 2-0 at the Soweto Campus. UWC are sixth on the table with 10 points, one more than seventh-placed UJ.

The action continues this coming weekend, with First Touch Academy hosting Sundowns Ladies at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane, and UWC welcoming TUT to the UWC Stadium in Cape Town.

The live match on SABC 1 will be between Durban Ladies and bottom-of-the-table Richmond Ladies.
