La Liga giants Barcelona have announced that four of their key players have signed contract extensions with the club.

The quad include Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet.

The Blaugrana confirmed the news after their Group G Champions League opener against Ferenvcaros.

Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele all got into the score sheet as the Catalans cruised to a 5 – 1 victory over their opponents.

Despite being sent off in the 68th minute, 33-year-old Pique penned a new four-year deal at the club, with a release clause in the region of £457 million.

Germany international Ter Stegen signed a five-year deal contract extension to keep his at the club he joined in 2014 through 2025 with a similar buy-out clause to Pique of £457 million.

Since arriving from Spanish rivals Sevilla in 2018 for a buy-out fee of £31.7 million on a five-year deal, Lenglet has made 89 appearances for Barcelona.

His contract that runs through 2023 has been extended to 2026 with a release clause of £274 million added to his name.

Former Ajax midfielder De Jong has also extended his contract through 2026, with the club adding a £366 million release clause.

At only 23 years of age, the Dutchman has lots of years ahead of him to reach his prime heights and excel in the midfield area.

The midfielder is poised to flourish under the reins of new manager Ronald Koeman who registered his first win with the club in the Champions League.
